The eligibility for the exam is as per the official notification. The detailed eligibility for the BIS Exam is based on a number of parameters like:

1. Nationality
2. Age Limit
3. Educational Qualification 
4. Number Of Attempts

BIS Eligibility - Nationality 

A candidate must be

• A Citizen Of India (or)
• A Citizen Of Nepal (or)
• A Citizen Of  Bhutan (or)
• A Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India.
• A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Senior Secretariat Assistant	Bachelor Degree in Any Stream in Any Recognized University in India. Word Processing Test - 2000 Key Depressions in 15 minutes Test in Spread Sheets on Microsoft Excel - 15 minutes Test in Power Point (Microsoft PowerPoint) – 15 Minutes
Assistant Section Officer ASO	Bachelor Degree in Any Stream in Any Recognized University in India. Computer Proficiency Test: The candidate should be proficient at least upto Level-6 of National Skill Qualification Framework. The test shall be qualifying in nature. Computer Skill / Typing Test.
Personal Assistant	Bachelor Degree in Any Stream in Any Recognized University in India. Computer Proficiency Test: The candidate should be proficient at least upto Level-6 of National Skill Qualification Framework. The test shall be qualifying in nature. Shorthand : English OR Hindi 100 WPM in 07 Min. Transcribe on Computer : English 45 WPM OR Hindi 60 WPM.
Stenographer	Bachelor Degree in Any Stream in Any Recognized University in India. Computer Proficiency Test: The candidate should be proficient at least upto Level-5 of National Skill Qualification Framework. The test shall be qualifying in nature. Shorthand : English / Hindi 80 WPM transcribe on Computer : 50 OR 65 WPM.
Technical Assistant (Mechanical)	3 Year Diploma in Mechanical with Minimum 60% Marks . For SC / ST : 50% Marks.
Technical Assistant (Chemical)	Bachelor Degree in Science B.Sc with Chemistry as a Main Subject with Minimum 60% Marks. For SC / ST : 50% Marks.
Technical Assistant (Microbiology)	Bachelor Degree in Science B.Sc with Microbiology as a Main Subject with Minimum 60% Marks. For SC / ST : 50% Marks.
Senior Technician (Carpenter)	Class 10 High School Exam Passed in Any Recognized Board in India. ITI / NCVT Certificate in Related Trade. 2 Year Experience.
