Diwali 2022 : The Festival of Lights and Happiness !

Diwali, the festival of lights, will be observed on October 24th, 2022 this year. It lasts for five days, starting with Dhanteras and ending with Bhaiya Dooj. On the gloomiest night of the year, during the Hindu month of Kartik, the celebration of Diwali is observed. The Kartik Amavasya will be used to celebrate this occasion. Astrologers predict that a solar eclipse (Surya Grahan) will occur on October 25, 2022, the day after Diwali. In light of this, Govardhan Puja will be observed this year on October 26, 2022, the third day of Diwali. Any Puja performed during Surya Grahan is seen as unlucky.

Diwali, commonly referred to as Dipawali, is the greatest and most important celebration celebrated in India each year. The festival's name derives from the row of clay lamps (deepa) that Indians light outside of their homes to symbolise the inward light that protects against spiritual darkness. This occasion holds the same significance for Hindus as Christmas does for Christians. Both Hindus and non-Hindus celebrate Diwali, which has become a national holiday. For instance, in Jainism, Diwali honours Lord Mahavira's nirvana, or spiritual awakening, on October 15, 527 BC, while in Sikhism, it remembers Guru Hargobind Ji, the Sixth Sikh Guru, being freed from captivity. In India, Buddhists also celebrate Diwali.

How is Diwali celebrated in different regions of India ?

Rows of clay lamps are lit in northern India to commemorate the legend of King Rama's return to Ayodhya after defeating Ravana. 
It is commemorated as the day that Lord Krishna vanquished the demon Narakasura in Southern India. 
The festival in western India commemorates the occasion when demon King Bali was appointed ruler of the underworld by Lord Vishnu, the Preserver, one of the three principal Hindu gods.

Considered to be the celebration of lights, Diwali. It is regarded as the day to ignite the lamp of inner strength, wisdom, and qualities. The Hindu goddess of prosperity, Maa Lakshmi, is said to visit Earth on the day of Diwali and bestow happiness, money, and prosperity upon everyone who celebrate it. On this day, people worship Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi and wear new clothing. The Special Lakshmi Puja is held on this day.

Diwali is often a five-day holiday with several ceremonies taking place each day, with the third day serving as the main event. It is observed 20 days following Dussehra. In general, people dress to impress, worship the goddess Lakshmi, decorate their homes with lovely rangolis and diyas, purchase new electronics or jewellery, exchange presents like sweets and dried fruits, and gather for family feasts and celebrations.
In North India, Diwali is also associated with dinner parties, carnivals, and festivals. In the North, gambling is a part of the customary festivities, and the days before Diwali are filled with late-night card games.
