A unique mummified woolly mammoth over 30,000 years old was discovered in a Canadian gold mine.

On June 21, 2022, a baby woolly mammoth with skin and hair and a virtually flawlessly preserved mummified body was found in Canada's far north. According to the Yukon government, a miner in the Klondike gold fields made a unique and exceptional discovery, and the female body has since been given the name "Nun cho ga" in the Trondk Hwchin's Hän language, which translates to "huge baby animal."

According to a government press release, the miner discovered the mummified woolly mammoth while digging through the permasoft near Eureka Creek in the Klondike Gold gold fields within Trondk Hwchin Traditional Territory.

The animal, which is thought to be female, would have perished more than 30,000 years ago, when woolly mammoths roamed this area, during the Ice Age.

 The find also marks the first almost entirely preserved and best-preserved woolly mammoth discovered in North America.

In 1948, a gold mine in the interior of Alaska yielded the partial remains of a mammoth calf known as Effie.

In 2007, Lyuba, a 42,000-year-old infant woolly mammoth that had been mummified, was discovered in Siberia.

Experts estimate that the woolly mammoth, which still possesses its skin and hair, was frozen more than 30,000 years ago during the ice period.

When it was living, the woolly mammoth might have shared the Yukon alongside wild horses and cave lions. The discovery was described as "beautiful and one of the most spectacular mummified ice age animals ever discovered in the world" by palaeontologist Dr Grant Zazula.

Dr Zazula stated that the mummified woolly has a trunk, a tail, and small little years in describing the creature. Additionally, she possesses a little prehensile end to her trunk that she may use to grasp grass. She is stunning and flawless.

The woolly mammoth existed during the Pleistocene era and perished during the Holocene.

 Around 8,00,000 years ago in East Asia, the woolly mammoth started to diverge from the steppe mammoth.
