At the Paavo Nurmi Games 2022, the Olympic Gold Medalist could not have wished for a better start to return to competitive action for the first time since the Tokyo Olympics, as he achieved a new National Record and personal best of 89.30 m.

After the Tokyo Olympics, Neeraj Chopra had set his eyes on breaking the 90-meter barrier. The 25-year-old began the continental Tour event, which was also his first competitive tournament since the Tokyo Olympics, where he blew away the competition to earn Gold with a throw of 86.92 meters.

In his second throw, Neeraj Chopra set a new national record. He completed three valid tries at an event in Finland, finishing with a throw of 85.85 meters.

Outside of the Diamond League, the Paavo Nurmi Games 2022, a gold event on the World Athletics Continental Tour, is one of the most important tracks and field tournaments.

Neeraj Chopra will compete next in the Kuortane Games in Finland before heading to the Diamond League's Stockholm leg on June 30. Chopra will next head to the Athletic World Championships from July 15 to 24 in Oregan before the Commonwealth Games starting on July 28.
