For his bravery, while leading the Tamil Nadu Police STF, which was founded to find the forest bandit Veerappan, Sanjay Arora was awarded the chief minister's heroism medal. He served as Coimbatore's police commissioner from 2002 to 2004. Arora was appointed Director General of the paramilitary Indo-Tibetan Border Police in August of last year (ITBP). He also served in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Border Security Force (BSF). He holds a B.Tech. in electrical and electronics engineering.
