The second edition of the District Skill Development Planning Awards recognized 30 districts.

The Dr Ambedkar International Centre hosted the 2nd edition of the Awards for Excellence in District Skill Development Planning. District Skill Development Planning Awards 2022 were given to the top 30 districts in the region for their unique best practices in skill development. Gujarat's Rajkot, Assam's Cachar, and Maharashtra's Satara have all been named among the top three districts.

District Collectors, District Magistrates, and other delegates from 30 states attended the District Skill Development Planning Award Ceremony. They also discussed their thoughts and experiences, as well as the skill development work that respective districts were doing at the grassroots level.

While honouring all of the winners of the District Skill Development Planning Awards, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan stated that all skill development planning should be linked to the local economy. He went on to say that the construction of Aatmanirbhar districts is the road to an Aatmanirbhar Bharat. The District Skill Development Planning Awards were given to 30 districts in the following three categories:

1st class: 8 Awards for Outstanding Planning for District Skill Development

2nd class: 13 Certificate for Outstanding District Planning for Skill Development

 3rd class: 9 Letters of Appreciation for Skill Development Planning in the District

The goal of the DSDP awards is to motivate the District Skill Committees (DSCs) and promote a better knowledge of District Skill Development Planning by utilizing capabilities to implement targeted projects at the district level in India.

The DSDP grants are designed to maximize the impact of SANKALP's main mission, which is to build state and district-level institutional structures for skill development.

In June 2018, the Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP) Scheme established DSDP awards to promote decentralized planning and recognize and honour the remarkable and creative work done by districts in the field of skill development. The inaugural round of the DSDP awards took place in 2018-19, with 228 districts from 19 states taking part.
