Government Actions:

According to a representative from the Sugarcane Development Department, the government has already begun taking action under the Panchamrut Yojana to accomplish this goal. The government will initially choose 2028 farmers in the state before the autumn harvest to create model plots, in an effort to inspire other creative farmers to sign up for the program for their own gain.

According to a press release issued by the UP government, the Panchamrut scheme uses five approaches, including drip irrigation, co-cropping, ratoon management, and waste mulching, to enhance productivity and the fertility of the land while lowering the cost of sugarcane production.

The program's combined goals are to lower costs by maximizing the use of sugarcane leaves and stubble, reducing the use of fertilizers and pesticides, encouraging the cultivation of multiple crops for greater productivity and boosting farmer income, and reducing pollution because there will be no need to burn leaves in the fields.

Other words of support

The government will also give out "Uttam Sugarcane Farmer" awards to farmers who follow the Panchamrut plan and are successful in increasing both the production of their land and their revenue. To lower the cost of farming and increase income, the Uttar Pradesh government encourages farmers to embrace modern farming methods.
