AFCAT selection process is given in the official notification of the AFCAT exam AFCAT 1 2022 is scheduled to be conducted on February 12, 13, and 14 2022, while AFCAT 2 2022 will be conducted in August 2022.  The selection of the AFCAT candidates is done in 4 stages as Written Test, AFSB interview, Medical Exam, and Final Selection. AFCAT Written Test 2022: Phase 1

AFCAT exam pattern of the online computer-based test is divided into four sections namely, General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability and Reasoning, and Military Aptitude Test. Further details related to the same are mentioned below:

  • It consists of 100 questions for 300 marks.
  • The EKT is divided into three sections namely, Mechanical, Computer Science, and Electrical & Electronics.
  • It consists of 50 questions for 150 marks.
  • All the questions are objective-type regardless of the choice of posts.
  • The medium of the question paper will be English.

AFCAT Phase 2: Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) Interview

The Indian Air Force prepares a list of candidates who secures the minimum qualifying AFCAT cutoff in the online written test. Those candidates who apply for NCC Special Entry and Meteorology Branch will be directly called for AFSB testing.
There are three stages of the AFSB Interview.

AFSB Interview Stage 1

  • Officer Intelligence Rating Test along with Picture Perception and discussion test will be scheduled on the first day of the Interview session.
  • After qualifying for the stage 1 interview, candidates will be asked for document verification to ensure their eligibility for their posts.
  • The candidates who will not qualify or do not satisfy the eligibility criteria will be sent back.

AFSB Interview Stage 2

  • The psychological test will be held on Day 1 (Afternoon).
  • The Group Tests and personality tests would commence after the document check for the next five days.

AFSB Interview Stage 3

This stage will only be held for the Flying Branch. Computerized Pilot Selection System (CPSS) Test is mandatory. Candidates who fail the CPSS/PABT in an earlier attempt or a Flight Cadet suspended from flying training at Air Force Academy will not be eligible.

AFCAT Medical Exam: Phase 3

After the personality tests, qualified candidates must go through a medical examination. Candidates must be mentally as well as physically fit while the selection process is going on. The medical exam will be scheduled by the conducting body to examine the physical and medical health of the candidate.

AFCAT Final Selection: Phase 4

The final section will be made on the basis of the final merit list. The final merit list for AFCAT 1 is expected to be released in the month of January 2022. The list of recommended candidates will strictly be decided on the basis of their merit and the availability of vacancies in different branches of the AFCAT.

The approx duration of the training will be 74 weeks for Flying and Ground Duty (Technical) Branches and 52 weeks for Ground Duty (Non-technical) Branches. As AFCAT Salary, candidates during the training period will receive an amount of INR 56, 100/-.

Ques. Is Tattoo allowed in AFCAT 2022 exam?

Ans. Permanent Tattoos on the candidates’ body will only be permitted if it is on the interface of the forearm which means from the inside of the elbow to the wrist and on the reverse side of the palm/ back (dorsal) side of the hand. Any other sort of permanent tattoos is totally prohibited. A permanent tattoo can cause the cancellation of candidature.

Ques. Is selection in AFCAT tough?

Ans. The selection in AFCAT is moderately tough. The AFCAT exam is easier than the AFSB interview. However, with right preparations,the candidates can easily clear both.

Ques. Will the 12th marks affect the selection process of the AFCAT 2022 exam?

Ans. There is no specific percentage of Class 12 specified by the conducting body. However, if you wish to apply for Technical entry, 60% or above aggregate in physics and maths, as well as above 60% in your Graduation, is mandatory.

Ques. Is Interview held in AFCAT?

Ans. Yes, the candidates who clear the AFCAT online exam have to go through the interview conducted by AFSB for final selection.
