CTET Eligibility Criteria2022

The eligibility criteria are based on a number of factors, the most important criteria are the minimum score in class 12th and the necessary course related to teacher training. The CTET Eligibility Criteria in crux  is :

Primary Teacher
  1. Should have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 45 percent aggregate marks
  2. Should complete the prescribed teacher training programs/teacher education course
Upper Primary
  1. Should have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 45 percent aggregate marks.
  2. Should complete the prescribed teacher training programmes/teacher education course

CTET Eligibility: Educational Qualification In Detail

To be a Primary or Elementary Teacher, candidates should meet any of the following criteria. The educational qualifications cover various relevant degrees and teacher training diplomas. The details are as follows:

CTET Educational Qualification for Primary Teachers

The  candidates  must meet any one of the following criteria given below to fulfill the CTET eligibility:
  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 board examinations from a recognized institute with minimum 50 percent marks must have passed or should be  appearing in the final year of the two-year teacher training diploma course in Elementary Education
  • Candidates must have Passed 10+2 board examinations from a recognized institute with minimum 45 percent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of the two-year teachers' training diploma in Elementary Education in accordance with rules mentioned in NCTE, 2002
  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 board examinations from a recognized institute with minimum 50 percent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a four-year bachelor’s course in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)
  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 board examinations with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appeared in the final year of two-year Diploma in Special Education
  • Graduation in any stream with minimum 50 percent marks and a B.Ed  degree

CTET Educational Qualification for Elementary Teachers

In order to be qualified to get  appointed  as an elementary stage teacher the applicants must fulfill any one of the criteria :
  • Candidates must have passed Graduation in any stream and passed or appearing in the final year of two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.Ed)
  • Graduation in any stream with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in one-year B.Ed course
  • Candidates must have done their graduation with minimum 45 per cent marks and passed or appearing in one-year B.Ed in accordance with the rules and norms of NCTE
  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 board exams from a recognised institute with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of four-year B.El.Ed
  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 board exams from a recognised institute with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of four-year BA/BSc.Ed or BA.Ed/BSc.Ed
  • Candidates must have passed graduation with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in one-year B.Ed in Special Education

CTET Reservation Criteria

There is no reservation of seats for candidates belonging to reserved categories. Candidates belonging to reserved categories such as Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Class (OBC) and Differently Abled will receive relaxation of five percent out of the qualifying marks.

CTET Eligibility: Number of Attempts

There is no limit on the number of attempts for CTET Exam. Candidates can appear for the exam as many times as they want provided they fulfill the eligibility criteria mentioned above.
