Are Girls Allowed in NDA?
Yes, girls are allowed to sit for the NDA Exam. In compliance with the judgment of the Honorable Supreme Court in the case of Kush Kalra Vs. UoI & Others, UPSC has released the latest notification for the Recruitment of Women Candidates into the National Defence Academy.Also Read:

NDA Eligibility for Girls
NDA Eligibility for Girls: Nationality
To apply for NDA, a Girl candidate must be:
1) A citizen of India or
2) A subject of Nepal or
3) A subject of Bhutan
4) A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 1, 1962, intending to permanently settle in India or
5) A person originally Indian who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia or Vietnam intending to permanently settle in India
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories 2, 3, 4 and 5 shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Indian government.
A certificate of eligibility will not, however, be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal.

NDA Eligibility for Girls: Age Limit

The age limit is same as that of boys.

The commission will accept the date of birth that is entered in the Class 10 or 12 certificates of the candidate.
Candidates need to submit these certificates after the declaration of the result of the written exam.

NDA Eligibility for Girls: Educational Qualification
The educational qualification prescribed for girl candidates for admission to the different academies is given below:

Passed class 12 or equivalent examination from a recognized board |

The Air Force and Naval wings of NDA and 10+2 Cadet entry scheme at INA |
Passed Class 12 or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics |
Note:
- Candidates who are appearing in Class 12th or equivalent examination can apply.
- Candidates appearing in the Class 11th exam are not eligible.

NDA Eligibility for Girls: Marital Status
Only unmarried male/female candidates are eligible to apply for NDA Exam.
Other than the above-mentioned eligibility criteria, there are certain physical fitness standards that must be fulfilled by the candidates to be finally selected.
Candidates must note that NDA eligibility for males and females is the same, except for the physical criteria. For details related to expected physical criteria candidates must refer to the official notification by UPSC for all the details related to NDA eligibility.

NDA Eligibility Criteria: Physical Standards
The general guidelines related to the physical guidelines are mentioned below, candidates who wish to read particular details related to height and weight standards must visit the official notification for the examination.- The applicant must have good physical and mental health and should be free from diseases and disabilities.
- The candidates are advised to rectify minor defects/ailments.
Permanent body tattoos are only allowed from the wrist to the inside of the elbow and on the hand’s backside. Tattoos on any other body part are not acceptable.
Candidates belonging to tribes who have tattoos/ marks on the face/ body as part of their custom/ traditions will be allowed on a special case basis.
NDA Physical Fitness: Undesirable Health Issues
The candidate must not be suffering from any of these minor conditions at the time of the NDA medical exam as that would lead to the candidate’s ineligibility:
- Wax (Ears)
- Deviated Nasal Septum
- Condition of Overweight / Underweight
- Piles
- Tonsillitis
NDA Height and Weight Requirements For Applicants
- Body Mass Index should be below 25.
- The Waist to Hip ratio should be below 0.9 for males and 0.8 for females.
- Waist Circumference should be less than 90 cm for males and 80 cm for females.
- All biochemical metabolic parameters should be within normal limits.
NDA Vision Standards for Candidates
