IPS is in the second rank after IAS.

For becoming an IPS officer you need to be a Graduate of a recognized University.
The age limit for IAS is a minimum of 21 years and a maximum of 32 years.
The age limit for IPS is minimum 21 years and maximum 32 years for General, 35 and 37 years for OBC and SC/ST.
The questions are generally asked from General Ability, Mathematics, English, and General Knowledge
The questions are asked from the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, Special laws, Crime Prevention and Criminology, Internal Security, etc.
The ideal time duration for the preparation of IAS is 10-12 months.
The ideal time duration for the IPS preparation is 12 to 15 months.
