SSC CGL is a national-level exam conducted by Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to shortlist candidates for Group-B and -C posts in various ministries/departments/organisations of the Government of India. Every year, about 30 lakh candidates fill the SSC CGL application form and about 15 lakh aspirants appear for the exam. The Staff Selection Commission conducts the exam in four stages called tiers. The first two tiers of the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam are conducted in online mode. The next two tiers of the exam are held in offline mode.
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam for recruitment to various subordinate services. The services are given below.

SSC CGL 2020-2021 Notification
Before the official notification of SSC CGL 2020-21 was supposed to be released on 15th September 2020, but due to the ongoing pandemic, the official notification of SSC CGL 2020-21 is expected to be released on 12th December 2020 tentatively. The online application window is expected to be open for one month period from 12th December 2020 to 15th January 2021.
SSC CGL 2020-21 Important Dates
The official notification for 2020-21 is going to be released by Staff Selection Commission of India on 12th December 2020. The online recruitment process will begin only when the official notification has been released.

SSC CGL 2020-2021 Selection Process
SSC CGL 2020 Examination is conducted in four tiers respectively:
Tier-I: Computer Based Examination
Tier-II: Computer Based Examination
Tier-III: Pen and Paper Mode (Descriptive paper)
Tier-IV: Computer Proficiency Test/ Data Entry Skill Test (wherever applicable)/ Document Verification is done at the end.
• Candidates who have applied successfully for SSC CGL 2020 exam, are assigned with unique Roll numbers and Admit Cards for appearing in the Computer Based Examination (Tier-I).
• Candidates are shortlisted category-wise on the scores received in the Tier-I exam, these candidates are allowed to appear in Tier-II and Tier-III Examinations.
• Separate cut-offs are fixed for Paper-III of Tier-II exam (i.e. for the post of JSO and Statistical Investigator Grade-II), Paper-IV of Tier-II (i.e. for the posts of Assistant Audit Officer and Assistant Accounts Officer) and for Paper-I + Paper-II of Tier-II (i.e. for all other posts).
• Tier-II and Tier-III Examinations will be conducted only for those candidates who have qualified in Tier-I.
• In Tier-II, all the candidates will be required to appear in Paper-I and Paper-II. However, only specific candidates shortlisted for the posts of JSO/ Statistical Investigator and Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer will be required to appear in Paper-III and Paper-IV respectively.
SSC has introduced minimum qualifying marks in SSC CGL 2020 Exam. Minimum qualifying marks in Tier-I, each Paper of Tier-II and Tier-III Examination are given below.
SSC CGL 2020-2021 Exam Pattern
Tier-I exam contains a total of 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) of 200 marks. Candidates need to complete the exam in online mode in 60 minutes (one hour)

Tier-II: SSC CGL tier-II exam consists of four papers. Each paper consists of MCQs that candidates need to attempt in online mode. Candidates need to attempt each paper in 120 minutes (two hours)

Tier-III: SSC CGL Tier-III is a subjective/descriptive paper in English or Hindi language. Candidates need to attempt the paper in a pen-and-paper mode in 60 minutes duration.

Tier-IV:
SSC CGL Tier-IV exam is a skill test. The official website informs, “Computer Proficiency Test/Skill Test (wherever applicable)/Document Verification will be conducted as per the provisions of the notice of examination.”
The skill test conducted by the commission is of two types as mentioned below:
SSC CGL Data Entry Skill Test (DEST)
This test is conducted for candidates who apply for the post of Tax Assistants (Central Excise & Income Tax). As part of the test, all candidates need to type at 8,000 (eight thousand) Key Depression per hour on the computer. The skill test will be conducted for a passage of about 2,000 key depressions for 15 minutes. The test is of qualifying nature.
SSC CGL Computer Proficiency Test (CPT)

4. Physical Fitness Requirements: There are certain required Physical Standards for Inspector (Central Excise/ Examiner/Preventive Officer), Sub-Inspector in CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) and Sub-Inspector in NIA (National Investigation Agency).
SSC CGL 2020-2021 Application Fee
• The required application fee is Rs. 100/-
• Exemption: No fee is required to be paid by female, SC, ST, Physically Handicapped, and Ex-Servicemen candidates
• Application fee should be paid only through SBI either in the form of challan or through SBI Net Banking or any other bank Credit/Debit Card. Challan form will be generated online
• To pay the fee in cash, candidates should take the print out of challan generated online after the completion of Part-1 registration. Deposit the requisite fee in any branch of SBI and then continue with the Part-2 registration
• Those candidates who want to pay online can go directly to part-2 registration after completion of part-1 registration. Candidate must supply registration number and date of birth to continue to Part-2 registration
