People in India are recognized for their achievements in a variety of professions, ranging from filmmaking to national service. Civilian, military, leadership, and literary prizes are the four major categories of Indian honors. Other Indian prizes are given for bravery, athletics, and other achievements.

Civilian honors are divided into four categories: Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri. All Indian nationals are eligible for these honors, regardless of ethnicity, occupation, status, or gender.

People studying for bank exams or other competitive tests in India should be familiar with the awards and recipients. For the year 2021, here is a list of Indian awards and its recipients.

List Of Indian Awards

Bharat Ratna Awards are given to a maximum of three people each year. Padma Awards are divided into three categories: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri. A total of seven Padma Vibhushans, ten Padma Bhushan, and 102 Padma Shris will be presented to civilians in 2021. There are 29 woman awardees, 16 posthumous awardees, ten civilian awardees from various categories of Foreigners/ PIO/ OCI/ NRI, and one transgender awardee among them.

In India, recipients of the Padma Awards are often recommended by an award committee comprised of state governments, union territory administrations, central ministries, or excellence institutions, among others. The awards are handed after the Home Minister, Prime Minister, and President has given their assent to the Awards Committee's recommendations. Indian Awards: Bharat Ratna

The Bharat Ratna is India's highest civilian honor, bestowed on notable individuals for achievements in fields such as science, literature, the arts, public service, and sports.

Bharat Ratna literally means "Indian Jewel" or "Indian Gem." The winners are recommended to the President by India's Prime Minister. The recipients of this award receive a certificate signed by the President as well as a medallion in the shape of a peepal leaf. Without exception, the award honors extraordinary service or accomplishment of the highest level. Sachin Tendulkar, who is 40 years old, is the youngest recipient of the Bharat Ratna Award, while Dhondo Keshav Karve, who is 100 years old, is the oldest.

The Bharat Ratna awards will not be given out in 2020 or 2021, hence we are presenting the list of Bharat Ratna Award recipients for 2019.

Indian Awards: Padma Vibhushan

The Padma Vibhushan is India's second-highest civilian honor. The award is given to persons who have made outstanding contributions in sectors such as social work, public affairs, medicine, literature, sports, and civil service, among others. Every year on Republic Day, the prize recipients are announced.

Indian Awards: Military Awards

  • The highest award for military service is the Param Veer Chakra, which is given to the highest level of a forfeit during battles or wars. This honor has only been given to 20 army troops and one air force man thus far.
  • Maha Veer Chakra: The Maha Veer Chakra is the second-highest military honor given for bravery in battle.
  • The Veer Chakra is given out for valor on the battlefield. It is the third-highest honor bestowed on military personnel.
  • One of the peacetime decorations, the Ashok Chakra, is given for valor, bravery, or self-sacrifice away from the battlefield. Second on the list is Kirti Chakra, followed by Shaurya Chakra.
