Dates That Matter in October 2022

International Day of the Elderly is observed on October 1.

Every year, on October 1st, "International Day of the Elderly" is commemorated to promote awareness of the issues that older people confront.

The UN General Assembly approved this resolution on December 14, 1990, and as a result, October 1st, 2021 is now recognised as "International Day of the Elderly Persons."

International Day of Nonviolence is observed on October 2.

Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti on October 2nd.

Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti Shastri, who was born on October 2nd, 1904, in Mughalsarai to parents Sharada Prasad Srivastava and Ramdulari Devi, shared his birthday with Mahatma Gandhi, who was born on October 2nd, 1869. Posthumously, he received the Bharat Ratna.

It's World Postal Day on October 9.

The purpose of the holiday is to increase disadvantaged people's desire to use their skills and help end poverty.
