In order to be eligible to appear for the exam, candidates must satisfy these nationality criterias and must be:
  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Bhutan, or
  • A subject of Nepal, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who migrated to India before 1st January 1962, with the intention of residing in India permanently, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Uganda, Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Malawi, Ethiopia, Zaire, Zambia, and Vietnam with the intention of settling in India permanently.

SSC JE Eligibility: Age Limit

There are various posts in SSC JE Exam that the candidates can apply for and the age limit for each of these posts is different. However, candidates must be above 18 years of age and not more than 32 years of age to be eligible to appear for SSC JE Exam.

SSC JE Eligibility: Age Relaxation

Along with the above age limits, SSC offers age relaxations to candidates belonging to certain categories which are as follows:
Category Age-Relaxation Permissible beyond the Upper age limit
SC/ST 5 years
OBC 3 years
PH 10 years
PH (OBC) 13 years
PH (SC/ST) 15 years
Ex-Servicemen (ESM) 03 years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age as on the closing date on receipt of online application.
Central Govt. Civilian Employees (General/Unreserved) who have rendered not less than 3 years regular and continuous service as on Closing date Upto 5 Years of age
Central Govt. Civilian Employees (OBC) who have rendered not less than 3 years regular and continuous service as on Closing date. Upto 8 (5+3) years of age
Central Govt. Civilian Employees ( SC/ST ) who have rendered not less than 3 years regular and continuous service as on Closing date Upto 10 ( 5+5) years of age.
Candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 01- 01-1980 to 31-12-1989 (Unreserved/General ) 5 years
Candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 01- 01-1980 to 31-12-1989 ( OBC ) 8 years
Candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 01- 01-1980 to 31-12-1989 (SC/ST) 5 years
Defense Personnel disabled in operation during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof. 3 years
Defence Personnel disabled in operation during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof ( SC/ST ) 8 years

SSC JE Eligibility Criteria: Educational Qualifications

SSC lays down certain essential educational qualifications that are required for candidates to be eligible for different posts under SSC JE Exam. The education qualification is the most essential criteria that must be satisfied in the SSC JE Eligibility. Every candidate should have necessarily passed Matriculation or Secondary Examination from a recognised board.
