Union Public Service Commission annually conducts Central Armed Police Force exams, to recruit candidates into various paramilitary forces. UPSC CAPF Exam pattern is meant to test the suitability of candidates based on knowledge, physical fitness, and personality. For the year of 2021, there are 159 vacancies in various paramilitary forces. The CAPF Exam for the year 2021 was conducted on 08th August 2021, as per the latest calendar by UPSC the CAPF Exam is scheduled for 7 th August 2022 next year. CAPF Exam Pattern consists of three stages they are - written exam, physical ability test, and interview. The interview for the exam cycle of 2020 is yet to be conducted. Candidates aspiring for the job must know the UPSC CAPF exam pattern and syllabus. This exam requires one to be sound in academics, physically fit, and mentally calm and composed. UPSC CAPF Exam Pattern 2021

CAPF Exam is conducted in three stages written exam, physical ability test and interview. Written test in pen and paper-based. It is conducted in two stages, where candidates are tested on their knowledge and analytical skills, along with their ability to write and frame answers. Below is the exam pattern for CAPF written exam.
It comprises 2 Papers both in written format.

General Ability and Intelligence.

Negative marking: 1/3rd marks will be deducted if the wrong answer marked)
Tests the general ability and intelligence of the candidates based on MCQ format. 
Paper-II 3 Hours 
General Studies, Essay, and Comprehension

Descriptive in nature and tests the language proficiency of the candidate.
Second round- Physical Ability Test- This test I meant to access the physical suitability of candidates for paramilitary forces. There are set parameters that a candidate must meet, otherwise, his candidature is rejected. As per UPSC Official notification, a candidate must meet medical criteria and pass Physical Efficiency Tests (PET) .

Third round- Interview/Personality Test- Candidate who are found medically fit can appear for interview, this round carries a total of 150 marks.
Final Selection / Merit : The merit list will be drawn on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in the Written Examination and Interview/Personality Test.

UPSC CAPF Exam Pattern 2021- Syllabus

Interested candidates must have in-depth knowledge of the syllabus and should be aware of the latest trends in questions. Candidates can check the detailed exam syllabus here. Broadly the topics asked in the exam will be as following:
  1. General Mental Ability- The questions will be designed to test logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude including numerical ability, and data interpretation.
  2. General Science -The questions will be set to test general awareness, scientific temper, comprehension and appreciation of scientific phenomena of everyday observation including new areas of importance like Information Technology, Biotechnology, Environmental Science.
  3. Current Events of National and International Importance- The questions will test the candidates’ awareness of current events of national and international importance in the broad areas of culture, music, arts, literature, sports, governance, societal and developmental issues, industry, business, globalisation, and interplay among nations.
  4. Indian Polity and Economy: The questions shall aim to test candidates’ knowledge of the Country’s political system and the Constitution of India, social systems and public administration, economic development in India, regional and international security issues and human rights including its indicators.
  5. History of India : The questions will broadly cover the subject in its social, economic and political aspects. This shall also include the areas of growth of nationalism and freedom movement.
  6.  Indian and World Geography: The questions shall cover the physical, social and economic aspects of geography pertaining to India and the World.

UPSC CAPF Exam Pattern 2021- Syllabus-Paper II :

General Studies, Essay, and Comprehension Part-A – Essay questions which are to be answered in long narrative form either in Hindi or English totaling 80 Marks. The indicative topics are modern Indian history especially of the freedom struggle, geography, polity and economy, knowledge of security and human rights issues, and analytical ability.
Part-B – Comprehension, précis writing, other communications/language skills – to be attempted in English only (Marks 120) – The topics are Comprehension passages, précis writing, developing counter arguments, simple grammar, and other aspects of language testing

The CAPF exam’s marking scheme is given in the official notification, as per UPSC the marking scheme is give below:
